Whether you know Washington from your student years or your life beyond Georgetown, theres a whole new side of the city awaiting you this spring. At the 2010 John Carroll Weekend, held from April 29 to May 2, 2010, discover the intellectual vigor, cultural dynamism and artistic splendor of Washington, brought to you by the Georgetown University Alumni Association. During the weekends signature events, participants will be welcomed into Washingtons treasured spaces and newest museums. On Thursday, April 29, the Newseum -- D.C.s less than two-year-old interactive museum presenting five centuries of news history -- will be open exclusively for Georgetown guests during the Presidents Welcome Reception. Guests are invited to attend a private reception at the stunning Library of Congress on Friday and to honor alumni and friends during the John Carroll Awards Banquet, a beloved tradition, at the National Building Museum on Saturday.
Many other weekend events will feature gatherings with Washington leaders including some of the 20 Georgetown alumni who are current members of Congress, museum and walking tours led by Georgetowns favorite faculty and professors, programs on Capitol Hill, concerts and shows featuring prominent alumni entertainers -- and much more.
Alumni from all schools and programs, parents, family members, friends, students and faculty are welcome to enjoy this weekend of social, cultural and intellectual engagement. Special programs for young alumni and families with younger children make this John Carroll Weekend an event thats fun for all ages. Plan a full four days of activities, a single day or just sign up for a program or two!
